Last week I offered two mini sewing camps and they were so fun! Most of the students had never sewn a stitch and here is what their final products looked like. So cute! They not only learned two stitches they learned how to sew a button on. ( this will come in handy around the house ) I really enjoyed watching them feel so capable and proud. I've even gotten a couple emails from parents telling me that now they are sewing all the time at home. I am definitely looking forward to the next sewing camps. These will be offered during half track and holiday weeks.
I jumped in with both feet at the beginning of July. After a little paint and some organizing track out camps had begun! We have had camps creating art about Fairies, Mermaids, Bugs, Reptiles, Birds, the Beach and most recently Paris! I am thrilled to be at The Artful Mind in Wake Forest and cannot wait to start posting pictures each week of our highlights from camp. We really get so much done it is crazy! This week the girls brought in their American Girl dolls and we sewed them a new dress and a beret. They painted the Jardin du Luxembourg, an acrylic Eiffel Tower, sewed tiny french kitties and made clay chats for their beaded necklaces. Last but not least we created some pop up art of some french chateaus. Here is a picture of some of the projects. Stay tuned, there is much more to come! -Ms. Kari
I love lemons, the smell of crayons, the feel of sunshine and the sound of laughter. Teaching art to me means opening up portals in a child's mind that combined with their self confidence can transport them anywhere. The world is beautiful and we will use it for inspiration every step of the way.
